BRITISH INTERNATIONAL FREIGHT ASSOCIATION NAMES POLICY AND COMPLIANCE
OFFICER FOR CUSTOMS ISSUES
The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has confirmed the
appointment of Pawel Jarza as policy and compliance advisor with
responsibility for issues concerning Customs.
This role will involve working with the trade, HMRC and other bodies to
ensure customs processes and policies represent the best solutions for both
trade and regulators particularly as new routines and solutions emerge
during the negotiations and preparations for the UK to leave the European
Union.
JAPAN PRESENTS PLANS FOR CONTAINER TRANSIT ROUTE THROUGH KAZAKHSTAN TO EUROPE
Representatives of Japanese economic organisations, companies and think
tanks discussed Japan's plans to develop container transit from Japan to
Europe through Kazakhstan and China with Kazakh, South Korean and Chinese
delegates at a recent business form in Tokyo.
EXITING THE EUROPEAN UNION
Defined as 'Brexit', the UK will be exiting the European Union (EU),
following the result of the referendum on 23 June 2016.
In the run up to that exit BIFA will be campaigning to ensure that the
movement of the UK's visible import and export trade does not become
overburdened by over complicated trade procedures.

The British International Freight Association (BIFA) is urging its members and the freight forwarding community not to be complacent about new rules concerning the reporting of the "verified gross mass" of every container, in light of the recent IMO circular on VGM urging a policy of 'practical and pragmatic' enforcement by authorities over the first three months afer the new rules take effect on July 1.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY PLEDGES TO FIGHT AGAINST WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) 72nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) unanimously endorsed a resolution denouncing the illegal trade in wildlife and wildlife products and pledging to partner with government authorities and conservation organizations in the fight against the traffickers of endangered animals.
